“i’m literally [x identity]” ok and? is what you have to say factually true? do other people of the same marginalized group feel similarly? or are you just proclaiming your identity because you think it’s a better way to say “shut up you have to listen to me”

i actually hate it when people misunderstand the difference between “my marginalized identity gives me a better understanding of this issue so you should at least consider what i have to say” and “my identity means i am right about my stance on x issue”

because at first glance they don’t necessarily seem that different but there’s a fine line between a) referring to your lived experience and b) assuming your identity makes you all knowing or believing you speak for everyone of your identity

“When you believe niceness disproves the presence of racism, it’s easy to start believing bigotry is rare, and that the label racist should be applied only to mean-spirited, intentional acts of discrimination. The problem with this framework- besides being a gross misunderstanding of how racism operates in systems and structures enabled by nice people- is that it obligates me to be nice in return, rather than truthful.”

Literally sobbing. A judge, a US judge defended us. A judge brought up intersex people, uaing the term intersex, to *defend* us by not allowing our erasure. I’m having a lot of feelings right now

Somebody get Judge Reyes a bodyguard and some armor plates for under robes during court.

I’m serious, we need to protect every friend we have right now.

The army really asked “Hey, what do you think would fit the aesthetic of employing vulnerable teenagers to risk their lives over a nefarious goal they don’t even know, I’m asking because we want to set up a recruiting event at the Anime Con”.

Then some PR lackey was like, “you won’t believe it I know the exact show”

hey netizens! i’m not sure how many people are aware, but youtube’s been slowly rolling out a new anti-adblock policy that can’t be bypassed with the usual software like uBlock Origin and Pi-Hole out of the gate

BUT, if you’re a uBlock Origin user (or use an adblocker with a similar cosmetics modifier), you can add these commands in the uBlock dashboard (under My Filters) to get rid of it!

youtube.com##+js(set, yt.config_.openPopupConfig.supportedPopups.adBlockMessageViewModel, false)

youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.adBlocksFound, 0)

youtube.com##+js(set, ytplayer.config.args.raw_player_response.adPlacements, [])

youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.hasAllowedInstreamAd, true)

reblog to help keep the internet less annoying and to tell corporations that try shit like this to go fuck themselves <3

Speaking as a youtuber who relies on those ads for my income: absolutely block that shit!

Google can TURBO fuck off with this walled garden business tyrant bullshit, advertising fucking sucks and people should have the right to opt out of it on their own fucking computers. I would infinitely rather miss out on some af revenue than see the internet that Google is trying to build come to fruition.

As of August 2023, the script provided doesn’t work anymore. However, you can still circumvent this pop-up by using YouTube in a private tab.
